Uruguay will open its borders to foreigners with property in the country as of September 1, and two months later all countries in the world, President Luis Lacalle Pou announced Monday, clarifying that in both cases they must be fully immunized.
"As of September 1, those (foreigners) who prove to be owners", with a complete vaccination schedule and a negative PCR upon entry will be allowed to enter our country, the president said at a press conference.
In a second stage, on November 1, the borders will be opened to all other foreigners with full immunization.
The President pointed out that the decisions were made taking into account the auspicious health context in the country.
The country of 3.5 million inhabitants has 73% of its population inoculated with at least one dose against covid-19, while 65% have the complete scheme.
